New Year charity in Indonesia: gifting mini-libraries to primary schools
Indonesia's high illiteracy level among primary school students is a nationwide issue. Since 42% of the country's population lives in rural areas, limited access to quality learning creates a bottleneck for young children to acquire solid reading skills. This is why we decided to promote literacy by sponsoring mini-libraries in primary schools.
To carry out this initiative, we partnered with Yayasan Tunas Aksara, a local charity that has been driving the 'library in the box' project for several years.
The project 'Saya Suka Membaca', or 'I love reading', provides box libraries, each containing a selection of more than 125 reading books at a variety of levels. Each mini-library can be used in individual classrooms or by the entire school for years to come.
The library box project showcases our long-term commitment to education-focused charity. We firmly believe knowledge acquisition and continuous learning are key to building a better future for local communities.
