Ichimoku Kinko Hyo
A technical analysis tool developed in Japan in the 1930s by Goichi Hosoda. 'Ichimoku' means 'one look', as this method can, at a glance, provide users with the state of the current market, its momentum and sentiment, as well as project future support and resistance. Ichimoku Kinko Hyo is composed of several indicators and often intimidates new users, while it is a straightforward and concise tool to use. It is recognised mainly by the distinct 'clouds' on the chart. -
IDR
The currency code for the Indonesian rupiah. -
Illiquid market
A market where instruments are not easily exchanged or sold due to the lack of demand, volume, and trading activity. This leads to an increase in the spread between the ask and bid prices. -
Immediate or cancel (IOC) order
A type of order in the financial market that requires the execution of the order as soon as the exchange receives it. If the order cannot be executed immediately, it is cancelled. This order is commonly used by traders who want to sell or buy a security at a specific price but do not want to wait for the order to be filled. -
Implied volatility (IV)
The estimated volatility of a security's price. In a bearish market, the implied volatility will increase, while in a bull market, it will decrease. -
Index
Value of a particular market or a part of it calculated from the prices of selected stocks. The selection may be based on an industry, country or the exchange they are traded on. As it is a statistical measure, it cannot be traded directly; therefore trading is performed through derivatives. -
Indirect quote
Is a foreign exchange rate quoted as the foreign currency per 1 unit of domestic currency. -
Industrial production
The total value of output produced by manufacturers, mines, and utilities. It can act as a leading indicator of economic growth, employment, and personal income, as it is measured monthly. -
Inflation
A sustained economic trend where purchasing power decreases while the cost of goods and services rises. For instance, with a 10% inflation rate, a loaf of bread that costs 1 USD now will cost 1.1 USD in a year. -
INR
The currency code for the Indian rupee. -
Institute for supply management (ISM)
An international organisation that shares monthly reports on the production of goods, delivery of services, and hospital activity. They reflect the state of business activity in an economy. -
Instrument
An asset that can be invested in and traded on financial markets. -
Interbank market
Is a decentralized market where banks and other financial institutions conduct transactions. For individual traders, this is the source of price quotes and is where forex brokers offset their positions. -
Interest rate decision
A central bank decision that is aimed at keeping the prices stable. As the short-term interest rate is the most critical factor driving currency valuation, a higher rate is positive for a given currency. It reflects positive expectations about a country's overall economy. -
Internal transfer
Funds transfer from one trading account to another within one personal area -
International monetary fund (IMF)
The fund created to promote global monetary and exchange rate stability, facilitate the growth of international trade, and aid countries needing temporary financial assistance. -
Intervention
A monetary policy tool deployed by a central bank to maintain stability in their currency rates by selling its reserve currencies or buying more of them on the market. Also, Foreign Exchange Intervention. -
Intraday trading
The practice of buying and selling a trading instrument within a day in order to profit from relatively small movements in price. Also, Intraday position, Intraday trade, Day trading. -
Introducing broker (IB)
A person that refers clients to a broker and receives a commission (IB Commission) for their trading. The IB often provides services on top of what a brokerage firm can provide. The more active clients the IB has, the higher his IB Rank is. Apply here if you are interested in partnering with us. -
