“Some progress" made in the negotiations with Greece – IMF’s Lagarde

FXStreet (Mumbai) - Speaking at a conference in Washington, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde sounded more optimistic and noted "some progress" in the negotiations with Greece over releasing the outstanding €7.2 billion tranche from the current bailout program.

However, the IMF chief also noted that the institution has to consider the views of the "international community."

Lagarde said, "We have constant discussions, and are making some progress in those negotiations with the Greek authorities,"

"But it’s clearly a difficult situation, and one where we all have to be mindful of the economic success, the financial stability, but also the accountability for the commitments that have been made with the international community."
