US stocks down but off lows, GBP soars

FXStreet (Córdoba) - Wall Street opened wh losses but during the last hours rebounded. European markets finished mostly lower. The Europe Stoxx 600 was down 0.11% at 329. Among country indexes, the UK FTSE 100 slipped 0.01% while the Germany's Dax ended 1.22% lower . The France’s Cac 40 fell 0.85% and Italy’s FTSE MIB lost 0.23%.

In the US, the Dow Jones was falling 0.05% at 16,561 after bottoming at 16,518 while the Nasdaq was down 0.28%. The S&P 500 was losing 0.15%.

In the FX market, the GBP was rising across the board, with the GBP/USD at the strongtes level since Thursday above 1.6800 while the USD was showing mixed results. Gold was up, trading at $1,312/oz off session highs, while crude oil was falling 0.75%, below $97.50 a barrel.

EUR/USD is trading at 1.3357, down -0.20% on the day, having posted a daily high at 1.3387 and low at 1.3336.
